Kenya Cuisine

National cuisine of Kenya is a mix of African dishes, Arabian, and European delicacies. Overseas tourists will appreciate the fact that Indian and Middle Eastern food is available in most areas of the country. Rice and vegetables are usually served with beef, chicken or fish. One of the most popular specialties of the country is Ugali (cornmeal porridge). Among other national dishes there are Mtuza Wa Samaki (baked fish, then cooked into a curry), Kuku Na Nazi (a chicken made with coconut milk). One of Kenya’s best-known specialties is Nyama Choma (roasted meat, served with a spicy tomato relish). National drinks include Kenya Cane (spirit made of sugar cane), Uki (traditional beer flavored with honey), and Changaa (locally made spirit distilled from maize).
